PLDT Global Corp. reported a 30 percent year-on-year increase in revenue for the first half of 2026, driven by demand for international bandwidth, submarine cable capacity and related infrastructure services from hyperscalers, international carriers and digital platforms.
The international arm of PLDT Inc. attributed the growth to rising requirements for connectivity supporting cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) applications and enterprise workloads across Asia.
The company said expanding digital services and increasing data consumption across the region are driving investment in submarine cables, data centers and cross-border networks, raising demand for network capacity and interconnection services.
PLDT Global’s infrastructure strategy includes leveraging PLDT’s participation in the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) system, a submarine cable network designed to improve connectivity among key Asian economies while providing additional capacity and alternative routes for international data traffic.
The company said network diversity and resilience have become increasingly important as businesses distribute workloads across markets and rely on cloud platforms and digital services.
Enterprise ICT revenue also grows
PLDT Global’s performance coincided with continued growth at PLDT Enterprise, which generated P24.8 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026.
Corporate data and information and communications technology (ICT) services accounted for P18.4 billion of that amount, reflecting business spending on cloud services, cybersecurity, managed services and digital transformation, according to the company.
Within PLDT Enterprise, PLDT Global provides international connectivity linking Philippine businesses with overseas customers, partners and digital platforms. Its services complement the group’s data center, cloud, managed ICT and cybersecurity offerings.
“The continued expansion of cloud services, AI applications, and digital platforms is increasing the need for reliable international connectivity,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, PLDT Global president and chief executive officer.
“We remain focused on investing in infrastructure and strengthening partnerships that help address these requirements while supporting our customers’ digital transformation initiatives across markets,” he added.
Regional infrastructure demand expands
The company said investments by hyperscalers, data center operators and network providers are increasing requirements for international bandwidth, colocation facilities and resilient network capacity across Southeast Asia.
These infrastructure requirements reflect the growing movement of data across borders as businesses expand digital operations and deploy AI and cloud-based applications.
For the Philippines, international connectivity infrastructure provides links between domestic networks and overseas digital hubs, supporting enterprise communications, cloud access and other services that depend on cross-border data transmission.
PLDT Global said its investments and partnerships aim to strengthen these links as regional demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow.
