Globe says August was its best network month of 2026, citing DICT data

Globe reports average download speeds of 45.9 Mbps in August, up 26% from January, as it points to ₱26.3 billion in first-half capex.

Globe Telecom says its mobile network turned in its strongest performance of the year in August, based on a Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) report.

According to Globe, its overall score rose to 81.5 in August, up 4.4 points from January. Average download speed reached 45.9 Mbps, the network’s 2026 high. That is 5.1% faster than July and 26% above January’s 36.5 Mbps. Globe also reported a network quality score of 71.2, up from 69.2, and latency of 20 milliseconds.

Where the money went

Globe tied the gains to spending. The company said it invested ₱26.3 billion in capital expenditures in the first half of 2026, with 91% going to data-related projects.

It also cited an automated outage response system that it says keeps up to 50% of data connectivity running during outages, compared with less than 10% without automation.

On coverage, Globe said it connected 52 previously unserved Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in July, completing all 180 project sites assigned to it under a DICT initiative.

“Customers need a network they can depend on every day,” said Atty. Froilan Castelo, Globe General Counsel. “The progress we are seeing shows that our investments are making a difference.”

Reading the numbers

Speed is only part of the picture. Latency, the delay before data starts moving, matters as much for video calls and mobile gaming as raw download speed does. A 20-millisecond figure is a strong result for a mobile network.

The figures here come from Globe’s own summary of the DICT report. Telecom Philippines will compare them against the full DICT data and other operators’ results once those are available. Globe also noted that Ookla Speedtest Intelligence has named it the Most Consistent Mobile Provider four times in a row, from the second half of 2024 to the first half of 2026.
