Globe Business urges companies to integrate connectivity, cloud, cybersecurity

Globe Business is urging Philippine enterprises to integrate connectivity, cloud computing, cybersecurity and collaborative platforms into a unified digital infrastructure, saying disconnected systems can hinder expansion and weaken customer experience as businesses adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies.

The company’s enterprise arm brought together business leaders from retail, financial services, health care and energy utilities at the G Summit 2026 to discuss how integrated technology systems can improve operational efficiency, customer trust and business resilience.

Dennis Wong, Globe Business senior adviser, said companies need to coordinate their technology investments rather than treat each system as a separate project.

“First, you need to have very reliable connectivity for access,” Wong said. “Number two, you need to have a scalable cloud platform. Number three, once you have all this, you need to have a very secure infrastructure.”

He added that collaboration tools and application programming interfaces (APIs) are needed to connect different systems and teams.

“If the network folks, the cloud folks, and the security folks don’t talk to each other, your transformation is not going to happen,” Wong said.

Discussions at the summit highlighted how businesses across industries are incorporating digital infrastructure into their operating strategies.

In retail, Walter Yu of AC Retail and Anko emphasized the need to integrate cybersecurity into transformation projects from the outset. Dustin Lacap of McDonald’s Philippines highlighted scalable cloud infrastructure as a business investment that can simplify operations and support expansion.

In financial services, Suzelyn Urbano discussed how GCash is using AI to accelerate enterprise innovation and improve workflows while maintaining security, responsible deployment and human oversight.

The health care sector faces similar pressure to improve digital services. Atty. Gideon Peña of iCare said customers increasingly compare health maintenance organizations with service experiences across other industries. Technology can help simplify claims processing, reduce friction and deliver more responsive services across digital and physical channels.

Energy utilities also face the challenge of connecting digital systems with physical infrastructure as demand grows and urban centers expand.

Mark Anthony Kindica of Visayan Electric Co. said integrating separate platforms with modern network tools could improve electricity distribution for more than half a million people in Cebu. Connected systems can help utilities move from reactive troubleshooting toward predictive maintenance.

Arvin Padayhag of Davao Light and Power Co. and Aboitiz Power Distribution Utilities likewise emphasized the need to develop physical infrastructure and enterprise information technology together, with cybersecurity playing a critical role in power reliability.

The discussions reflect a broader enterprise technology challenge: investments in cloud services, AI and security do not automatically produce business benefits when systems operate in isolation. Integration requires coordination across networks, applications, data and security controls.

Globe Business said it aims to support this process by combining connectivity, cloud services, cybersecurity and enterprise applications for organizations undertaking digital transformation.

“You should be focusing on the business. You should be focusing on your customer,” Wong said. “That’s where Globe Business wants to be. We want you to be your trusted partner.”
